Solicitor in Waterford with extensive legal and business experience

Thomas Murran has been a qualified solicitor since 1977. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Law and a Master’s Degree in Law, both from UCD. In his early career, he worked for a time with Irish Life, followed by periods in general practice and with a firm specialising in litigation.
Always interested in owning his own firm, Thomas acquired Peter O’Connor & Son LLP in 1982 and moved to Waterford. He has extensive experience in all aspects of business law and employment law, having advised multinationals, public companies, statutory bodies, partnerships and family firms on a wide range of issues.
Thomas also served as Revenue Sheriff for the Waterford and Kilkenny region from 1986 until his retirement from that role in 2024. Through this work, he developed significant expertise in regulatory compliance and debt recovery.
A former President of the Waterford Law Society, Thomas served for many years as a Council Member of the Law Society of Ireland and was Chairman of its Client Care Task Force. He was also a member of the Finance, Education, PR and Regulation committees. He is a Past President of both Waterford Chamber of Commerce and Waterford Lions Club.
