New passport application process for Irish citizenship applicants effective January 2022

New Passport Process for Citizenship Applications from 1st January 2022

Applicants applying for Citizenship from the 1st January 2022, no longer need to submit their original passport with their application. Instead they must submit a full colour copy of the entire Passport. Which must be duly certified by a Solicitor, Commissioner for Oaths or Notary Public.

However, the Department still retains the right to request actual passports to be submitted as part of the verification process if necessary.
